Icon Camps

Icon Camps are independent events in which participants collaboratively generate sketches for new public domain symbols.

Background: Icon Camps were created as an independent version of Iconathon-like events. In August & September 2011, several cities across the US participated in a series of design charrettes — day-long collaborative workshops — called “Iconathons”. Through facilitated design sessions, event participants generate icons and symbols that visually convey concepts frequently needed in civic design. (Read more)

Icon Camp San Francisco Occupy Icons

On October 16, 2011 a group of designers, occupiers, better banking advocates and interested folks gathered to sketch symbols for the Occupy movement, with a special emphasis on symbols explaining the reasons for the Occupy movement (mostly financially related).
